5 Day Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda and Rwanda

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Transfer from Kampala in the morning and drive to the southern part of the country, you will have en-route stop at the Equator, a famous spot for photography. Proceed to Mbarara town for a lunch stopover. After lunch you will proceed with the journey to the national park and will take you through the rolling green high grounds and good countries of Uganda. The journey will reward you with the wonderful perspective of triangular peaks of the Virunga Volcanoes of Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. We then drop down into the valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the gorilla. You will have dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas / gorilla Resort / Gorilla Mist Camp / Nkuringo Gorilla Camp / wagtail Eco Safari Camp.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

After early morning breakfast the lodge, you will transfer to the park headquarter and be briefed from the ranger guide, after the briefing. You will penetrate into the jungle for gorilla tracking. The activity always begins at 8:00am, you have to carry packed lunch, drinking water, rain coat and jungle boots while the ranger guide will provide you with a strolling stick. The time taken to see the gorillas is unpredictable since it depends on the movement of the gorillas in the search for food, shelter and water. An experience with an earth shaking 350 pound silverback or a baby gorilla is exceptionally exciting and unforgettable experience! After this great adventure you will return the your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi Forest – Uganda Volcanoes – Rwanda

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will hit the road and cross the boarder of Uganda to Rwanda trough Kisoro or Kabale and continue to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. The National Park is home to the rare and endangered mountain gorillas and is among the forests with the richest ecosystem in Africa, with over 178 species of birds. You will have dinner and overnight at Kinigi Guesthouse / Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge.

Days 4: Second Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, you will head off to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for briefing on rules fallowed while you’re in the forest with gorillas and Gorilla group allocation. After this you will be joined by a ranger guide and enter into the forest for a gorilla trekking adventure. An amazing trek through the refined foothills of the Virunga provides inspiring view in all directions. Gorilla trekking is somehow tiresome however once you meet the Gorillas, you will surely ignore all the hardships you encountered to see the Gorillas. When your track and find these beautiful creatures you’re permitted to stay with them for a maximum of one hour for observing them and take photos. After all this, you will return back to the lodge for late lunch and toward the evening you will go to Lake Bunyoyi sightseeing, you will watch a lot of bird species. You will have dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages / Bunyonyi Over Land Camp / Amagara café and Restaurants.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala

After breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer back to Kampala en-rout lunch and then continue to Kampala for last minute shopping and then drive to the Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home. This marks the end of your gorilla safari in Uganda and Rwanda.
